I am pretty sure that after this hip replacement my left hip is going to look like more of a patchwork quilt than skin. By no means am I looking forward to this and have asked if they can use my current scars for the op, but this is unlikely. The way in which sutures work varies with the quality of the skin and due to the scarring already present, it could end up looking awful and so additional scars might look neater. I currently have 8 scars, two of which come from the cutting of my groin tendons to put me into traction, aged 18 months, and the remaining four combine to form two long scars.
My first scar is a bit more noticeable, the one that blends with the seam of my shorts. When I was at summer camp in America, my friends and I were sunbathing on the pontoon when someone noticed my scars, this is one of the only times I actually remember someone asking me about it. A lot of the time people either ignore it, unsure weather to play ignorant or ask a potentially rude of hurtful question, or simply don't see it. This scar has actually been used twice which means it is really quite thick, 0.5cm in some places. Almost exactly half way down, when I sit with my legs crossed there is a great indent that I really dislike.
